This is done so that the cheekpiece can be removed from the stock so that you don’t have to change the adjustment on the cheekpiece. Note that the two little allen heads allow the cheekpiece to be adjusted for cast on and cast off.
Reworking Existing Stock for an Adjustable Cheekpiece
I’m starting today on the third rifle that I’ve built for the Veteran’s Palma Rifle Team Raffle. I chose this stock as it has a beautiful Fiddleback Walnut pattern. This prone rifle in custom English Walnut is for long range target shooting, and probably will work well for F class with the addition of plates for the rests. It has a Hart 6mm 1:8″ barrel, chambered in 6BRX. The length of pull is adjustable. The trigger guard is custom made for this stock based on trigger placement. 
The cheekpiece height is adjustable and if you notice you will see that there is a small clearance between the end of the cheekpiece and butt plate so that the cheekpiece can be adjusted right and left and also pivots heel to toe.

The pistol grip cap is custom Hawaiian Koa and is actually the mirror image piece from the Mango stock (see previous post).

Post 64 Winchester Palma gun – Sometimes you open up one of these and you find real surprises. Most of the time not good. First picture is the surprise, and the second picture is the fix. I think it’s a possibility that this may be one of the original Palma guns for the late 60’s. 
Finishing up the stock with some of the final coats of finish. Should be done in a couple of days.
Bloob Tube Final Machining for 2013 Anschutz
It’s hard to see in the picture, but it’s made with an offset – not concentric – to be able to save weight on the clamp. Available in different lengths from 9″ to 24″. I’ve also made them in carbon fiber to save weight.
This is the English Walnut stock I’ve been working on, and it’s getting down to the final steps in the finishing process, stippling and custom final finishing. Final pictures to follow.
Hawaiian Mango Stock Finished for Custom Palma Rifle in 223. The action is a post 64 long action Winchester. The bolt was converted from a standard bolt face.
Finished Pistol Grip #32 for Tube Gun, AR15, T2K, CSS Stock, Claro Walnut
This stock is from the Pierson and Morgan era of smallbore shooting. Unfortunately I can’t remember the names of the other person that worked with the two of them. I do know that Creighton Audette worked with them in later years.
Grooving Front Receiver Ring on ’54 Anschutz
Putting vent slots into an already finished stock can be a challenge to install them without any damage to the existing finish.

I picked up this piece of Mango when I was in Hawaii last year, and I’ve been saving it to build a rifle stock. It’s fairly easy to work with, but sharp tools are necessary as it can be ‘stringy’. Interesting grain and color. This will be a 223 Palma rifle in a long action post 64 Winchester.
This is being placed in the Anschutz stock for the shooter to use – the original Pierson stocks had a flat cheekpiece at about 45 degrees off vertical which made it difficult for some to use. If anyone has the article about the Pierson action which appeared in the Rifleman magazine sometime during the 60’s or 70’s – could you please let me know. Thanks. Doan

This is a Pierson Action and Trigger. The action will be bedded into an Anschutz stock for a Smallbore Rifle. There were a few of these actions made back in the 70’s – if anyone has any more info, please share. The quality of worksmanship on this is outstanding and the tolerances are spot on. It follows the lines of a 52 Winchester with some improvements.
