Making a Bloop Tube (Sight Extender) Clamp for Competetion Target Shooting

It’s hard to see in the picture, but it’s made with an offset – not concentric – to be able to save weight on the clamp.  Available in different lengths from 9″ to 24″.  I’ve also made them in carbon fiber to save weight.bloob-tube-img_2228

Installing Adjustable Buttplate on Pierson Stock

This stock is from the Pierson and Morgan era of smallbore shooting.  Unfortunately I can’t remember the names of the other person that worked with the two of them.  I do know that Creighton Audette  worked with them in later years.

Putting vent slots into an already finished stock can be a challenge to install them without any damage to the existing finish.

Hawaiian Mango Rifle Stock

mango-stock-img_2047
mango-stock-img_2045I picked up this piece of Mango when I was in Hawaii last year, and I’ve been saving it to build a rifle stock.  It’s fairly easy to work with, but sharp tools are necessary as it can be ‘stringy’.  Interesting grain and color.  This will be a 223 Palma rifle in a long action post 64 Winchester.

Pierson Action Installed and Bedded in Anschutz Stock

pierson-action-img_2050This is being placed in the Anschutz stock for the shooter to use – the original Pierson stocks had a flat cheekpiece at about 45 degrees off vertical which made it difficult for some to use.  If anyone has the article about the Pierson action which appeared in the Rifleman magazine sometime during the 60’s or 70’s – could you please let me know. Thanks. Doan

Pierson Action and Trigger

pierson-action-img_2041This is a Pierson Action and Trigger.  The action will be bedded into an Anschutz stock for a Smallbore Rifle. There were a few of these actions made back in the 70’s – if anyone has any more info, please share.  The quality of worksmanship on this is outstanding and the tolerances are spot on.  It follows the lines of a 52 Winchester with some improvements.

Final Finishing on Nice Walnut Rifle Stock

A really beautiful piece of wood. . . . close to the final finish.  There has been an ongoing, age-old debate among stock makers and gunsmiths “Should this be a shiny finish?  Or a satin finish?”  What do you think?

Making a Long Action Post 64 Standard Bold Face Into a 223 Bolt face for 223 Palma Rifle

I reduced the bolt face diameter, bushed the firing pin, and moved the ejector hole plunger toward the center.  This is the picture of the finished bolt face before final truing and polishing. This will be used for competitive rifle shooting in the Palma 223  Division. bolt-face-img_1844

Installing Sako Extractor into Remington 700 Bolt

There is a lot of information on how to do this – what’s interesting about this project is that with a Brown & Sharpe Omniversal Milling Machine, you can take the vertical head, tip it 90 degrees and you are able to drill the hole for the spring and detent for the extractor, which eliminates ever having to change your fixtures. It cuts the time in half, and no fancy fixtures to hold the bolt are needed. I have yet to figure out how many axis this milling machine actually has!  See Equipment link for more info on B&S Milling Machine.

Left Handed Pistol Grips

left-handed-pistol-grip-template-img_18671I’m starting on the left handed pistol grip template for tube guns, AR15’s, Space Guns, and Tubb guns.  It must be hand carved, so that it can be duplicated.  It will be the same shape as the right handed ones. The right handed ones are out there on Gary’s site.  I expect the template to be done within a few days, and the grips to be done as soon as possible.
