Note to Doan from Sue: Keep your fingers out of the sanding belt!

This is a piece of spruce that I cut on my sawmill on Mosquito Island off the coast of Maine back in the 1980’s. At the time time I didn’t realize how strong and light the wood was, and it turns out to be instrument grade spruce. My goal is to make a stock for F-TR class that is 4 lbs. or less while still having both an adjustable cheekpiece and adjustable buttplate and rail. The Spruce Goose really did fly.

Something new……. this is my pattern for an F-Class stock. The butt stock is rounded out for bag clearance. The piece of Koa is to add color. Vents in the bottom for continuous cooling.

Pictured from left to right …….. Major General Leander Doan (my uncle), Base Commander Fort Hood, Commanding General 1st Armored Division, Doan Trevor along with brother Micheal and sister Gail, Karl (aka Deac) Trevor (step grandfather). Taken at Fort Hood, summer 1953. The vacation was two fold….. one to see my uncle off to Europe to command the second armored division and secondly for Deac to work on the acceptance tests for the armored personnel carrier for (I think) the M-4. Deac worked as a design engineer for Franklin Motor Cars and Franklin Engine in Syracuse, NY as well as New Process Gear. Many of the transmissions and transfer cases and synchronizers that many of us are familiar with included his designs that are still used today. Major General Doan later went on to command MAAG in Southeast Asia and the Continental Command. And yes, we did check out the big gun later in the day.
Here’s a bit of humor for the Holiday Weekend. Do you think we need a new Jeep? Doan decided to fix the broken power window, and now the door is locked shut. Those of you who know Doan will appreciate his locksmithing methods.
Grip fits Eliseo Tube Gun or would fit AR-15’s or Tubb Gun

The white pieces of wood are sacrificial pieces of wood glued to the stock. When the hole is drilled through the center of the stock and is squared up by using the lathe, the stock can be put in the milling machine for further work.

Adding Shadowline

This adjustable Trigger Shoe allows adjustment for the Anschutz trigger forward and rear, and does not require modification to the weight adjustment screws.
