Final Finishing on Nice Walnut Rifle Stock

A really beautiful piece of wood. . . . close to the final finish.  There has been an ongoing, age-old debate among stock makers and gunsmiths “Should this be a shiny finish?  Or a satin finish?”  What do you think?

    On a target rifle>I want waterproof.I feel that means shiny. I would polish that down somewhat to a high satin.
    That is a very nice walnut blank.I hope we get to see it when finished.
