This stock blank has been around for a few years. Notice that this was before zip codes! This is a piece of curly Myrtle that will become a prone stock for a short range 52 rim fire.

Thumbhole Anschutz Stock Completed

This is a thumbhole stock that did not have an adjustable cheekpiece on it. In the process of building the cheekpiece, the owner wanted the stock refinished with the goal of keeping it as original as possible.

See refinishing in process here.

Thumbhole Anschutz Stock

Stock is being refinished and an adjustable cheek piece being added. The reason for the flat piece on the adjuster Is so that the legs from the adjustable buttplate do not hit the cheek adjuster.

Machining Front Sight Base To mount Offset Sights

It’s necessary to have a method to attach the front site globe to the offset arm. This is one of the methods. Rather than drilling and tapping the globe, I used the Redfield dovetail and made a base to fit it. Note that the bottom of the base is in three minute increments to match one turn of the rear sight so that you can center up the rear sight.

Finished Gustin Stock

Maple stock with ebony pistol grip cap. The owner of this rifle wanted to have all of his rifles match and for this one to mimic his smallbore rifle. I worked on his smallbore rifle which had a Karl Kenyon action and he went on to win The Made in America Match at Camp Perry. Last year, at the Wildcat Match, he won a certificate to have a rifle built. This one has a Gilkes Ross action.
