Extractor for Barnard Action

This person wanted to convert to a .223 and because all he need to do is pull the case out… it didn’t have to eject. Since there are no parts for Barnard, I decided to try my hand at making this piece. These pictures only show a few steps involved. Did not really keep track of the time it took, but I think it is around 20 hours. This is *really* great project for someone that can’t use iron sights anymore. It was a big job for something so minuscule! At a living wage, it’s still almost a car payment.

When I was still trying to make my eyes work for Palma shooting, I went through about a half dozen Barnard 223 extractors. Blowing primers with heavy loads fried them.

I did learn how to get the bolt open after the extractor blew out into the lug raceway. That was really helpful. Before I had to spin the barrel off.
