This trigger arrived, looked like it was in good shape, but wasn’t functioning properly. On closer inspection it was full of rust. I disassembled and cleaned it all out. Reassembled. Still not working. There is a pesky little spring that wanted to make an escape, tied a piece of thread on it. Could not make the trigger function. So, I drilled and tapped for a sear.. and made some small parts for pressure release. This completed the fix! Trigger will function from 3 ounces and higher.

THANK YOU IMMENSELY!
My granfather acquired a model 52 from a friend, it’s definitely a fixer upper as certain parts seemed to be missing. For example the magazine itself is literally a casing as the floorplate and spring are missing. Anyway it had this funky trigger in it and I spent an embarassing amount of time trying to figure out how it went together as the moment it was out of the gun it completely went to pieces. It had this long ‘spring’ that looked more like a paper clip that I figured went into the hole in that shoe on top but then how it connected with the claw shaped mini piece I was baffled by till I stumbled upon this post and saw the last picture then it clicked. It definitely fits better together but much like your example here I dont think it acctually works correctly. This particular Canjar trigger says 52-2 on the side of it though. I see the Allen key looking bolt you have there, its missing on this one as is that little spring you mention needing to tie a string to. What size allen key/bolt would you say that is? Maybe I can replace it with a general one from general hardware? The little spring might be a little tricky I might have to talk to a more capable machinist to make that.
Before I stumbled onto this post, I was staring at the pictures in this ad just to try and figure out how it was supposed to go together. That mini spring threw me off for hours because I don’t have one so I thought it was the long paperclip spring the entire time. The little pin that holds it in place keeps falling out I gather that will be corrected when the right spring tension is applied to it. https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/parts—ammo—accessories/gun-parts—rifle—triggers/nos-winchester-52-canjar-trigger.cfm?gun_id=102866018
The lack of documentation on this trigger assembly is incredibly frustrating to say the least, thank you for his post. I know there’s someone on gunbroker reproducing the Canjar trigger booklet, I asked them if they can verify whether the small bore section of the book listed the 52 series and to what length it went as the only other images I’ve found are the black and white heavily faded sheets with no info regarding this particular model. No joy so far though.
I will be saving this site for future info as I guarantee this wont be the only canjar trigger I come across.
